Ocean stewardship — campaign
Vol. 04

Respect the Locals.
A campaign for the sharks.

Shark populations have declined by roughly 70 % since the 1970s. The ocean these predators shaped is the same ocean our clothes are made for. The Respect the Locals Sweatshirt and Tote make that statistic something a stranger on the pier can read.

Both pieces print on demand, in runs of fewer than 200, on recycled cotton with GOTS-certified dyes. One percent of every order routes to a marine non-profit in the bay it shipped from. Buy the shirt — fund the cause. Meet the sharks that wear the support →

Two pieces. One statistic.

The campaign runs on the Sweatshirt and the Tote. Same mark, same cause, made to be read at a distance — on the pier, on the bus, in the coffee line.

  • Conservation flag

    Respect the Locals Sweatshirt

    Conservation flag

    $45

A heavyweight 9 oz brushed loop-terry crew with the campaign mark pulled in discharge ink — the print softens with every wash instead of cracking. Cut small so it earns a place in the rotation.

Front-line marine-awareness messaging for the shark-and-ocean shopper. Loop-terry cotton, brushed inside, ribbed cuffs.

  • Day carry

Respect the Locals Tote — Shark Edition

    Day carry

    $28

Hand-set type on a 12 oz natural cotton canvas, pulled one tote at a time. Reinforced at the stress points, no lining, no plastic hardware — pairs with the sweatshirt or carries the day on its own.

Heavyweight 12 oz natural cotton canvas. Pairs with the sweatshirt — same hand-set type, same shark on the horizon.

The campaign, in three lines

The shirt is the brief.

The 70% decline is not a fundraising deck — it is a fact a stranger should be able to read across a room. Tidebreak puts it on the chest of a sweatshirt and the face of a tote, then routes one percent of every order to the marine non-profit in the bay the package shipped from.

  • 01

    Cause, not sticker

The shark is the cause; the sweatshirt is the medium. There is no logo with a different message underneath. Wear the mark, the message travels with it.

  • 02

    Print-on-demand, in small runs

Capsules are screened after the order window closes, on 100% post-consumer recycled cotton, in runs of fewer than 200. Nothing is made for the bin.

  • 03

A 1% pledge, named on the label

One percent of every order routes to a small marine non-profit in the bay it shipped from. The non-profit is named inside the garment, the way a vintner names the vineyard.

When this run sells through, it is gone. The next drop carries the same mark — but nothing is reprinted into surplus.
